Shopify agency in Palakkad

Palakkad grows and processes what the rest of Kerala eats. Rice, jaggery, coconut oil, spice powders, snack foods out of the Kanjikode and KINFRA belt β€” nearly all of it sold through distributors, and nearly all of it worth more sold direct. That move is a food-compliance project as much as a web one.

Brands we build and scale

Why Thriftizer

In packaged food, the label is part of the product page.

FSSAI does not care that the sale happened online. Net weight, batch, best-before, the veg or non-veg mark, the nutritional panel, the licence number and the manufacturer address all have to be declared, and an e-commerce listing is expected to carry them. Most food stores put that information in a paragraph, or in an image of the pack that no system can read.

We build it as structured fields on the product instead. That means the storefront can render a consistent declaration block, your team cannot forget a field because the form asks for it, and when a marketplace or a buyer asks for the full spec you export it rather than reassembling it. It also means an audit is an afternoon rather than a fortnight.

The second Palakkad problem is weight. Rice, jaggery and oil are heavy and cheap per kilo, which is the worst possible ratio for parcel shipping. The catalogue has to be designed around courier weight bands and a genuinely costed free-shipping threshold, or the store loses money on exactly the orders it is most pleased to receive.

What we do here

Built for food and agri brands

🌾

Rice, staples & jaggery

Heavy, low-margin goods priced around real freight, with bundles that make an order worth shipping.

πŸ§‚

Spice powders & masalas

Origin and grade merchandised properly, plus the declarations the category legally requires.

πŸ”

Subscriptions

Staples are rebought on a cycle. A subscription flow is usually the single biggest LTV lever here.

🏭

KINFRA & Kanjikode units

Processors going direct for the first time: consumer packs, photography and a brand that did not previously exist.

πŸ“‘

FSSAI compliance

Licence, batch, best-before and nutrition as fields the store renders, and your team cannot skip.

🀝

Channel protection

Direct pricing that does not undercut the distributors still carrying your volume.

FAQ

Questions we get every week

We sell through distributors. Will a D2C store upset them?

It can, and it is worth deciding the policy before you launch rather than after the first complaint. The usual answer is to hold the same MRP online, use the store for pack sizes or variants the trade does not carry, and treat direct as a brand channel rather than a discount channel. Some brands go further and route direct orders to the nearest distributor for fulfilment. Which fits depends on how your trade is structured.

What does FSSAI require on an online product page?

In practice, the same mandatory declarations that are on the pack β€” net quantity, batch or lot, best before, the veg or non-veg mark, nutritional information, the FSSAI licence number and the manufacturer or packer address β€” presented so a buyer can read them before ordering. We build these as structured fields so they render consistently and can be exported when a marketplace asks. Take your own compliance advice on the specifics for your category; the store should make it hard to omit something, which is the part we control.

Our shipping costs more than the rice. What do we do?

Change the pack sizes and the catalogue rather than subsidising the courier. Larger packs and combination bundles move an order into a better weight band, and a free-shipping threshold you have actually costed pushes basket size instead of eating margin. For very heavy staples, a regional-only delivery radius with a separate rate card is often the honest answer.

Can we sell to the Gulf from Palakkad?

For snacks, spices and shelf-stable products, yes β€” and Malayali demand there is real. Rice and oil rarely survive the freight economics. We set up Shopify Markets, weight-band international rates and the FSSAI plus destination food-import paperwork, then help you work out which of your catalogue is worth listing internationally at all.
