Life at Thriftizer

A studio that ships, not a factory that bills

We build Shopify stores for consumer brands from one floor in Kudlu Gate, Bengaluru. This page is the honest version of what that is like — what we are good at, and what we ask of people.

How we work

Six things that are actually true here

Culture pages usually list values nobody could disagree with. These are the ones we would defend in an interview, including the parts that will not suit everyone.

Small teams, real ownership

Projects run with three to five people who see them from kickoff to launch. Nobody inherits a brief they had no say in, and nobody hands off a problem they created.

You learn on real stores

New joiners ship to production in their first fortnight, paired with someone senior. Shopify Partner Academy certifications are paid for, and time to sit them is planned in rather than borrowed from evenings.

Hours that respect the rest of your life

Standard hours, planned sprints and honest estimates. Launch weeks get busy — that is the job — but a permanent crunch is a planning failure, not a badge.

Direct feedback, both directions

Weekly demos in front of the whole team, monthly one-to-ones, and a retro after every launch that actually changes how the next one runs.

Craft over volume

We would rather do fewer builds properly than churn templates. Code review is real, Core Web Vitals are a gate, and 'it works on my machine' is not a completion criterion.

A studio, not a call centre

One floor in Kudlu Gate, whiteboards that get used, and a team that eats together. Hybrid where the role allows, in-person where collaboration needs it.

The rhythm

What a week looks like

Most of what makes an agency bearable to work in is scheduling. These are the fixed points; everything else moves around them.

  1. MondaySprint planning across design, development and growth in the same room, so dependencies surface before they bite.
  2. WednesdayCraft hour — someone shows the team something they learned, built or broke that week.
  3. FridayDemo to the whole team. Client-facing work gets shown as it will ship, not as a screenshot.
  4. MonthlyOne-to-ones on progression, not status. Status is what standups are for.
  5. Per launchRetro with actions owned by a person and a date, reviewed at the next one.
Growing here

What we invest in

Structured onboarding

A named buddy, a first ticket on day two and a 30/60/90 plan you helped write.

Certifications paid

Shopify Partner Academy, Google Ads and Analytics certifications covered, with study time scheduled.

Conference and course budget

An annual allowance for the thing you actually want to learn, not a catalogue to pick from.

Internal mobility

Developers who want to move into CRO or growth have done it here. Ask early and we will build the path.

The part most culture pages leave out

Agency work is client work. Scope changes, launch weeks compress, and sometimes a brand decides on Thursday that Monday is the date. We plan against that and we say no more often than clients expect — but if you want a codebase you own end to end with no external deadlines, a product company will suit you better than we will.

What you get in exchange is range. In a year here you will have touched a dozen catalogues across fashion, beauty, food and electronics, in six markets, with real revenue attached to whether your work is any good. That is a faster education than most product roles offer.

Where we are

24/D, 4th Floor, Friends Colony, Hosur Road, Kudlu Gate, Bengaluru 560068 — with a registered presence in Sacramento, USA. Hybrid where the role allows, in person where the work is better for it.

Think you would fit?
