Shopify Migration without losing your rankings
Move from WooCommerce, Magento, Wix or BigCommerce to Shopify with your products, customers, orders, reviews and — critically — your organic traffic intact. Every migration starts with a URL map and a 301 redirect plan, before a single record moves.
Most migrations lose traffic. That is a planning failure, not a platform one.
The revenue risk in a replatform is not the data — it is the URLs. When category and product paths change without a redirect map, every ranking page in Google 404s, link equity evaporates, and organic revenue drops for months while the new URLs re-earn their positions.
We build the redirect map first. Every indexed URL on your current store is crawled, matched to its Shopify destination, and given a 301 that ships with the launch — not after it. Structured data, canonical tags, meta titles and image alt text carry across in the same pass.
Thriftizer has been a Shopify Partner since 2017 and has built over 5,000 stores. Migrations are a routine part of that work, across India, the UAE, the US, the UK and Australia.
Where we migrate from
Each platform breaks in its own way. These are the ones we have done enough times to price with confidence.
WooCommerce to Shopify
The most common migration we run. WordPress plugin sprawl, inconsistent product data and permalink structures that rarely map one-to-one — we normalise all of it before import.
Magento to Shopify
Magento 1 end-of-life and Magento 2 hosting costs push most mid-market brands across. Complex attribute sets, tier pricing and multi-store setups are rebuilt natively or on Shopify Plus.
Wix to Shopify
Wix locks content into a proprietary structure with no clean export. We extract the catalogue, rebuild the storefront properly, and redirect the old page paths.
BigCommerce to Shopify
Closest like-for-like migration, but option sets, customer groups and price lists all need remapping. B2B pricing usually moves to Shopify Plus.
Custom & legacy builds
Bespoke PHP, .NET or headless storefronts. We work from the database export and rebuild the catalogue structure inside Shopify.
Shopify to Shopify Plus
Upgrading tiers without rebuilding from scratch — multi-store architecture, B2B catalogues, checkout extensibility and custom flows.
How a Thriftizer migration runs
Audit & URL map
We crawl the current store, export the catalogue, and map every indexed URL to its Shopify destination. You get the redirect sheet before we build.
Build & import
The Shopify theme is built or ported, then products, customers, orders and reviews are imported and reconciled against source counts.
Parity & QA
App replacements, payment gateways, shipping rules, taxes and integrations are tested against the old store's behaviour, not against a checklist.
Launch & monitor
Redirects go live with the DNS switch. We watch Search Console coverage and rankings daily for 30 days and fix anything that slips.
What a migration costs
Fixed-scope quotes. The band depends on catalogue size, integration count and how much of the theme is rebuilt versus ported.
Up to ~500 SKUs, stock theme customised to your brand, standard payment and shipping setup, full redirect map.
Larger catalogues, custom theme development, ERP or CRM integrations, multi-currency and multi-language.
Enterprise replatform — B2B catalogues, multi-store, checkout extensibility, custom apps and headless front-ends.
Every quote is fixed-scope and includes the redirect plan and 30 days of post-launch monitoring. No hourly billing surprises.
Questions we get every week
Will I lose my Google rankings when I migrate to Shopify?
Not if the migration is planned properly. Ranking loss happens when old URLs are not redirected to their new equivalents. We build a complete 301 redirect map before development starts and deploy it with the launch, so link equity transfers. Most of our migrations hold rankings within normal week-to-week variance, and we monitor Search Console for 30 days after go-live.
How long does a Shopify migration take?
A standard catalogue migration takes 3 to 5 weeks end to end. Larger catalogues with custom theme work and ERP integrations run 6 to 10 weeks. Shopify Plus replatforms typically take 10 to 16 weeks depending on B2B and multi-store requirements.
Can you migrate my existing product reviews?
Yes. Reviews transfer from WooCommerce, Magento, Wix and BigCommerce into Judge.me, Loox, Yotpo or Shopify Product Reviews depending on which app you standardise on. Review content is a ranking and conversion asset, so we treat it as part of the core data set rather than an optional extra.
Will my store be down during the migration?
No. The new Shopify store is built and tested on a private URL while your existing store keeps trading. The only switchover is a DNS change, which takes minutes and happens at a time you choose — usually a low-traffic window.
What happens to my customer accounts and passwords?
Customer records, addresses and order history all transfer. Passwords cannot be migrated from any platform because they are stored hashed — Shopify sends account activation invites so customers set a new password on first login. We script and schedule that invite send as part of the launch.
Do you migrate stores for brands outside India?
Yes. We run migrations for brands in the UAE, United States, United Kingdom and Australia alongside our Indian clients, and our team overlaps with both Gulf and US business hours.
