Shopify agency in Kollam
Kollam processes a large share of the world's cashew and a great deal of Kerala's coir. Both are export trades with decades of quality reputation and almost no consumer brand attached, which is the single biggest untapped D2C opportunity in the state.
Brands we build and scale
You have the product and the reputation. What you do not have is a brand.
A cashew exporter knows grades, moisture content, container economics and buyer specs. None of that is a consumer proposition. The buyer of a 250g pack wants to know where it came from, why it tastes different, whether it is roasted, and whether it will arrive fresh β questions your trade customers have never once asked you.
So the work starts before the store: pack sizes that make sense once shipping is included, a grade system translated into something a shopper understands, photography that makes a nut look worth the price, and a story that has been true for forty years but has never been written down.
Coir has the opposite problem β it is a product people buy for the home, sold by businesses set up to ship it by the tonne. Mats, rugs and geotextiles are bulky rather than heavy, which makes dimensional weight the deciding factor in the catalogue. Getting that wrong is how a coir store ends up losing money on its best-selling item.
Built for Kollam exporters
Cashew D2C
Grades made legible to a shopper, freshness and roast date on the product, packs sized for courier bands.
Coir & natural fibre
Bulky goods priced on dimensional weight, with room sizing and care information that reduces returns.
Seafood & marine
Cold-chain delivery windows, cut-offs and promises you can keep from Ashtamudi.
Export to direct
Multi-currency, HS codes and destination food rules so a first international order does not sit in customs.
Making it look worth it
Photography direction for products whose quality is normally judged by hand.
Freight that adds up
Rate cards built from real courier data rather than a flat guess that quietly loses money.
Questions we get every week
We only export in containers. Is D2C worth it?
Usually yes, but not as a replacement β as a margin channel and a brand asset. Direct sales earn several times the per-kilo realisation of a trade sale, and they give you something an exporter never has: your own customer list and your own demand data. Be clear that it is a new business function though, with packing, customer service and returns attached.
How do we explain cashew grades to a normal buyer?
You translate rather than publish. W240 means nothing to a shopper, so the product page leads with size, taste and use β whole large cashews for gifting, splits for cooking β and keeps the trade grade as a secondary specification for the buyers who do know. We build the product template so both live on the same record.
Coir is light but huge. How should we price shipping?
On dimensional weight, which is what couriers actually bill for bulky goods, not on the physical weight. That usually means rate bands by product size rather than a flat national rate, a genuine free-shipping threshold, and in some cases a separate rate card for the largest items. Get this wrong and your best-selling rug is your least profitable line.
Can we ship cashew abroad from our own store?
Yes, with the food paperwork done properly β FSSAI on your side, and the destination country's food import rules, which for nuts are usually stricter than domestic ones and often include allergen labelling requirements. We attach HS codes and the documentation to the shipping flow so parcels are not held, and set expectations on delivery windows by destination.
