Shopify Development Cost in Coimbatore: Textile and B2B Budgets

What Shopify builds actually cost for Coimbatore and Tiruppur brands — ₹40k starter stores to ₹4L+ wholesale builds — and why your variant count, not your city, sets the price.

Shopify Development Cost in Coimbatore: Textile and B2B Budgets

A straight answer first, since that's what the query deserves. Shopify development cost in Coimbatore, for the kind of work textile and B2B brands here actually ask for, lands in three bands: ₹40,000 to ₹90,000 for a clean single-catalogue store on a paid theme, ₹1,50,000 to ₹4,00,000 for a custom-built storefront with real catalogue engineering behind it, and ₹3,00,000 upward for a wholesale or B2B layer on top of either. Hourly work runs ₹1,200 to ₹2,500 depending on who's doing it. Those are the numbers we quote, and the spread inside each band is decided almost entirely by your product data, not by your design brief.

The city is not the cost variable

Merchants ask us whether building in Coimbatore is cheaper than building in Bengaluru or Chennai. It isn't, in any way that matters. Shopify work is priced by scope and by the seniority of the person doing it, and both of those travel. A Tiruppur knitwear exporter and a Delhi skincare brand with identical requirements get near-identical quotes from us.

What does change by city is the kind of request. In Coimbatore and Tiruppur the brief is almost always some combination of: a catalogue of several hundred styles with size and colour variants, GST-compliant invoicing, a wholesale price list for stockists, and a retail storefront that has to coexist with an export business that still runs on email and Excel. That combination is expensive. Not because of geography, because of data.

Shopify developer charges in Coimbatore: hourly against fixed scope

Freelancers in the city quote roughly ₹700 to ₹1,200 an hour. Agency rates sit at ₹1,200 to ₹2,500, and a senior developer on architecture or a Plus build goes past ₹3,000. Anyone quoting ₹400 an hour is either learning on your store or subcontracting it to someone who is.

Our advice on hourly versus fixed: take fixed price for the build, hourly for everything after. Fixed price forces both sides to write down what's being made, which is where most bad Shopify projects die. But a retainer of 15 to 25 hours a month after launch, at the same rate, is the honest way to handle the endless small things — a new size chart, a festive banner, a collection that needs re-sorting before an end-of-season sale. Pay-per-ticket for that work costs more and gets slower.

Shopify website cost for a small business in Coimbatore

If you're a single-brand retailer with under 100 SKUs, do not spend ₹3 lakh. You'll get more from a ₹45,000 build and ₹2,50,000 of Meta spend than the other way round.

At ₹40,000 to ₹90,000 we'd expect to deliver: a licensed theme configured properly (Dawn is free and genuinely fine), 40 to 80 products loaded with real copy, Razorpay or Cashfree live with UPI and cards, COD switched on with a basic OTP check, Shiprocket or Delhivery connected, a GST invoice app configured with your GSTIN and HSN codes, and Google Analytics plus the Meta pixel firing correctly through the Customer Events API rather than pasted into the theme. That last one gets skipped constantly and costs you attribution the moment iOS strips your pixel data.

What you don't get at that price: custom sections, a bespoke filter system, ERP integration, or anyone writing your product descriptions. Budget separately for photography. It's the single highest-return line item in an apparel launch and it's routinely the one people cut.

The textile catalogue problem, with actual arithmetic

Here is where the money goes on a Tiruppur or Coimbatore build, and it's worth doing the sum yourself before you accept any quote.

Take a knitwear brand with 350 styles. Six sizes, four colourways. That's 24 variants per style and 8,400 variants in the store. Each style needs at least four images, so 1,400 images to shoot, crop, rename and map. Each style also needs fabric composition, GSM, care instructions and a country-of-origin field if you're exporting — four metafields, entered or mapped per style.

Assume four minutes per style to clean the data, map metafields and check the variant matrix imported correctly. 350 × 4 = 1,400 minutes, about 23 hours. At ₹1,500 an hour that's ₹35,000 for catalogue work alone, before a single design decision. Add image processing and you're at ₹50,000 to ₹60,000. This is why a textile store costs more than a skincare store with the same page count.

Two practical constraints worth knowing. Shopify caps variants per product at 100 on standard plans, which sounds generous until someone decides that size, colour and fabric should all be options on one product — 6 × 4 × 5 is 120 and you're stuck. The fix is a product-per-fabric structure with a linked-swatch component, and it needs to be decided before the import, not after. Second, a CSV import that goes wrong is faster to delete and redo than to patch. We budget one throwaway import on every large catalogue because we get some part of the variant mapping wrong on the first pass more often than we'd like.

With 8,400 variants, collection pages stop working without proper filtering. Shopify's native filters handle size and colour reasonably; they fall over on fabric, GSM ranges and anything with more than a handful of values. That's either a few days of custom Liquid and Search & Discovery configuration, or an app — FilterPro is ours, built for exactly this, and it'll save you the custom build on most catalogues of this shape.

Shopify B2B and wholesale store cost in India

The unwelcome part: Shopify's native B2B — company profiles, per-company catalogues, payment terms, net-30 — is a Shopify Plus feature. Plus runs upwards of roughly ₹2 lakh a month at current exchange rates, and you should check Shopify's current India pricing rather than take that as gospel. If your wholesale channel does ₹40 lakh a year, Plus eats it. Don't do it.

What we build instead, in order of cost:

  • Customer tags plus a wholesale app, ₹80,000 to ₹1,50,000. Tag stockists, show them a discounted price list, set minimum order quantities, hide retail pricing behind login. Works well up to a few dozen accounts and maybe 3–4 price tiers.
  • A separate wholesale store on the same Shopify org, ₹2,00,000 to ₹4,00,000. Password-protected, its own catalogue structure in pack sizes rather than single units, its own checkout rules. Cleaner than bolting B2B onto a retail theme, and it means your retail store's page weight doesn't carry wholesale logic.
  • Shopify Plus with native B2B, ₹4,00,000 to ₹10,00,000 in build cost plus the platform fee. Worth it when you have 50+ trade accounts, genuine per-company pricing, and credit terms you're currently tracking in a spreadsheet. If you're there, our Shopify Plus team will tell you honestly whether the maths works before you commit to the subscription.

One thing that catches Tiruppur exporters: if a meaningful share of your wholesale is international, your gateway strategy splits. Razorpay handles domestic fine. Cross-border collection needs separate thinking, and the invoicing requirements diverge from your domestic GST flow.

GST, e-way bills and the parts that don't appear in quotes

Shopify's tax engine does not produce an Indian GST invoice on its own. You need an app or a custom integration to generate a compliant invoice with your GSTIN, the buyer's GSTIN for B2B orders, HSN codes per line, and the CGST/SGST/IGST split by ship-to state. Apps handle this for ₹500 to ₹2,000 a month. A Tally or Busy sync costs ₹60,000 to ₹1,50,000 to build and is worth it the moment your accountant is re-keying more than about 50 orders a week.

E-way bills matter specifically to wholesale. Any consignment over ₹50,000 needs one, and a stockist order of 200 pieces crosses that easily. If your fulfilment team is generating those manually off a Shopify order screen, you'll want the order data flowing into your accounting system rather than being copied. Budget for it at the start; retrofitting it is dearer.

COD, RTO and the money you spend after launch

Apparel at Indian price points runs heavily on cash on delivery, and the return-to-origin rate on COD apparel orders is high enough that it belongs in your build budget, not just your P&L. Two things pay for themselves quickly: OTP verification on COD orders above a threshold you set, and a small prepaid discount — ₹50 or 5% — shown at checkout. Both are cheap to implement, maybe ₹15,000 to ₹30,000 combined, and shifting even a tenth of your COD volume to prepaid changes your working capital.

Also budget speed. Traffic here is mobile and frequently on patchy 4G. A theme carrying six apps' worth of scripts will show a 4-second LCP on a real phone in a real store, and every tenth of a second costs you sessions during the Diwali peak when your CPMs are already up. Either keep app count down or plan a cleanup round before September.

Running costs, monthly

  • Shopify Basic is around ₹2,000 a month in India, the mid plan around ₹7,500. Confirm current figures with Shopify.
  • Shopify Payments doesn't operate in India, so you're on Razorpay, PayU or Cashfree at roughly 2% plus GST on cards and netbanking, cheaper on UPI. Check what third-party transaction fee your Shopify plan adds.
  • Apps: ₹3,000 to ₹12,000 a month is typical once you have reviews, invoicing, filters and email running.
  • Maintenance retainer: ₹20,000 to ₹60,000 a month at agency rates.

Common questions, answered once

How does eCommerce website development cost in Coimbatore compare across platforms? A WooCommerce build often quotes 20–30% lower and then costs more over two years in hosting, plugin licences, security patching and the developer you call at 11pm during a sale. Shopify's monthly fee buys away that class of problem. For a catalogue of any size we'd take Shopify. If you're already on Woo or Magento and weighing the move, the migration path is a known quantity and usually the cheaper decision over 24 months.

What does a Shopify development company charge for a full project? Same bands as above. The differences between agency quotes usually come down to whether catalogue data entry, product photography and copywriting are inside or outside scope. Ask specifically. A quote that's ₹80,000 cheaper because it excludes 8,400 variants of data work is not cheaper.

Is a Tiruppur store setup different from a Coimbatore one? Only in mix. Tiruppur briefs lean harder into wholesale, export documentation and pack-size ordering. Coimbatore retail briefs look like any other D2C build. Same rates, different scope weighting.

Can I start small and add B2B later? Yes, and you generally should. Build retail properly, prove the channel, then add the wholesale layer on top. The one thing to decide up front is your product and variant structure, because re-architecting a 350-style catalogue after launch costs more than building it twice.

If you want a number rather than a range, send us your product count, your variant structure and a sample of your current price list. We'll come back with a scoped quote and tell you which parts you can safely defer — see how we work with brands in Coimbatore and Tiruppur, or compare against our wider breakdown of Shopify development cost in India.
