Shopify Development Cost in Delhi NCR, Itemised Line by Line

Agency rates for a Shopify build in Delhi NCR, broken down item by item, with a worked example showing why the same brief gets quoted at ₹1.65 lakh and ₹4.4 lakh.

Shopify Development Cost in Delhi NCR, Itemised Line by Line

A working Shopify build in Delhi NCR lands between ₹90,000 and ₹15 lakh, and the spread is not because one agency is greedy. It is because "a Shopify store" covers a template swap done in nine days and a 4,000-SKU catalogue with OTP-verified COD, GST invoicing and server-side Meta tracking. Most D2C brands we quote in Gurgaon, Noida and South Delhi end up between ₹2.5 lakh and ₹6 lakh for the build, plus ₹8,000 to ₹25,000 a month in apps and platform fees. Below is what sits inside that number, item by item, and why two agencies looking at the same brief can be ₹2.75 lakh apart without either of them being wrong.

Shopify development cost in Delhi, line by line

These are agency rates, not freelance rates, for a brand doing real volume. Ranges reflect complexity, not location.

  • Discovery and scoping: ₹20,000–₹50,000. Two to four days. Good agencies credit this against the build. If nobody charges for it, nobody did it, and your estimate is a guess.
  • Theme licence: ₹0 on Dawn, ₹25,000–₹35,000 for a paid theme. One-time.
  • UI design, 5–7 templates: ₹60,000–₹1,80,000. Home, collection, PDP, cart, checkout-adjacent pages, one landing template.
  • Front-end build: ₹1,00,000–₹3,00,000. The bulk of it.
  • Custom sections and metaobjects: ₹8,000–₹25,000 each. Size charts, ingredient tables, bundle builders, store locators.
  • Catalogue load: ₹12–₹30 per SKU including variants and image handling. 500 SKUs is roughly ₹10,000–₹15,000.
  • Payments: ₹10,000–₹20,000 to configure Razorpay, PayU or Cashfree with UPI prominent and the right method ordering on mobile.
  • COD with OTP verification and risk rules: ₹30,000–₹70,000. More on why this is worth it below.
  • Shipping integration: ₹12,000–₹35,000 for Shiprocket, Delhivery or Blue Dart, including serviceability checks on the PDP by pincode.
  • GST invoicing setup: ₹10,000–₹25,000 plus the app subscription. B2B buyers asking for GSTIN capture at checkout push this higher.
  • GA4, Meta CAPI, server-side events: ₹25,000–₹60,000. Skip it and your ad spend flies blind.
  • Performance pass: ₹40,000–₹1,00,000. Image pipeline, lazy-loading, app script audit, LCP work.
  • Redirect map and SEO carry-over: ₹25,000–₹75,000 if you are moving from WooCommerce, Magento or a custom PHP build.
  • QA: 15–20% of build hours. Rarely itemised. Always the difference.
  • Project management: 10–15%.

Add them up for a standard fashion or beauty D2C brand with 400 SKUs and you are at ₹3.2 lakh to ₹4.8 lakh. A jewellery or electronics catalogue with heavy filtering, or a brand selling into the UAE alongside India, runs to ₹7 lakh and up. We keep a broader national view of these numbers on our Shopify development cost breakdown for India.

Why Gurgaon, Noida and South Delhi quote different numbers for the same brief

Shopify developer charges in Gurgaon skew higher than Noida, and everyone assumes it is Cyber City rent. Rent is a rounding error on a ₹4 lakh project. What actually moves the number:

  • Who is on the team. One full-stack developer doing design, build and testing costs less per hour and takes longer per feature than a designer, a Liquid developer and a QA engineer working in parallel.
  • Whether QA is included or implied. Plenty of NCR shops treat the client's UAT as QA. That is free for them and expensive for you, in launch-week bug tickets.
  • Whether the shop also sells to US and UK clients. An agency billing dollars for half its pipeline will not drop to ₹700 an hour for a Delhi brand. Their floor is set elsewhere.
  • What is assumed in scope. "COD" means a checkbox to one team and a verification flow with pincode risk scoring to another. Same word, 50 hours apart.

Postcode explains almost none of it. We have quoted brands in Saket and in Sector 62 in the same week at within ₹20,000 of each other, because the briefs were the same shape.

A worked example: ₹1.65 lakh and ₹4.4 lakh for one brief

Real structure, generic brand. Six templates, 450 SKUs, Razorpay plus COD, Shiprocket, GST invoices.

Quote A, ₹1,65,000. One developer, 140 hours at ₹900 = ₹1,26,000. Theme licence ₹28,000. Catalogue upload ₹11,000. Design is the theme's own demo with colours changed. QA and PM are the founder's evenings.

Quote B, ₹4,40,000. Design 55 hours at ₹1,200 = ₹66,000. Development 190 hours at ₹1,400 = ₹2,66,000. QA 40 hours at ₹800 = ₹32,000. PM 30 hours at ₹1,200 = ₹36,000. Theme ₹28,000, catalogue ₹12,000.

The gap is 175 hours. Those hours buy custom PDP sections instead of theme defaults, device testing on the ₹9,000 Android handsets that make up a large chunk of your traffic, a redirect map that holds your rankings, and someone whose job is to find the bug before your customer does. Quote A is not a scam. It is a smaller amount of work, honestly priced, and for some brands it is the correct purchase.

Hourly rates across NCR, and what to expect from each tier

  • Freelancer, 1–3 years: ₹500–₹900/hour. Fine for section tweaks and app installs. Risky as the sole owner of a launch.
  • Senior freelancer: ₹1,000–₹1,800/hour. Often the best value in NCR if your scope is genuinely small and you can manage them.
  • Agency blended rate: ₹1,200–₹2,200/hour across design, dev, QA and PM.
  • Shopify Plus specialist work: ₹2,500–₹4,000/hour for Functions, checkout extensibility, B2B catalogues and ERP middleware.

If you would rather staff up than buy a project, dedicated developer retainers in India run ₹1.2 lakh to ₹2.6 lakh a month depending on seniority. We break down how that model works on hiring a Shopify developer in India.

The India-specific lines that go missing from the first quote

COD is the big one. Say you do 1,000 orders a month, 55% COD, and 18% of those come back undelivered. That is 99 returns. At ₹140 in combined forward and reverse freight, ₹13,860 a month evaporates before you count the blocked inventory and the warehouse time. Cut RTO to 12% with OTP verification, address quality checks and a small prepaid discount, and you save 33 orders, or ₹4,620 a month. A ₹45,000 COD module pays for itself in about ten months on freight alone. Not a thrilling payback. It gets a lot better once you price in the stock sitting in a Delhivery hub instead of on your shelf, and it is why we push it into scope rather than phase two.

The rest of the list that gets forgotten: GSTIN capture if you sell to businesses, HSN codes on invoices, e-way bill handling for high-value consignments, FSSAI details on the PDP for food and supplements, WhatsApp opt-in at checkout for the abandoned-cart flow that actually works in India, and pincode serviceability shown before the customer reaches the cart. On payments, cards and netbanking typically cost around 2% plus GST at standard gateway pricing while UPI carries no merchant discount rate, so ordering UPI first on mobile is worth doing for margin, not just for conversion. Check your own negotiated rates before you assume.

What it costs to keep running

Budget ₹8,000–₹25,000 a month for the app stack on a mid-sized store. Reviews, subscriptions, GST invoicing, loyalty, a filter app, email and WhatsApp. Shopify's own plan fee sits on top of that, and Plus is quoted in dollars annually. Add a maintenance retainer if you run frequent campaigns: ₹25,000–₹75,000 a month for a shared pool of hours covers landing pages, festive theme swaps and the inevitable app conflict.

Speed degrades on its own as apps accumulate. A store that launched at a 78 mobile PageSpeed score is often at 44 nine months later because four apps were added and nobody removed their scripts. Either book a periodic performance pass, or run something that watches the score continuously; our own app SwiftStore scans, fixes what it safely can and tracks the number over time, which is cheaper than discovering the problem during a Diwali sale.

When cheap Shopify development in Delhi is the right call

If you have 20 SKUs, you are doing under ₹10 lakh a year, and you are still testing whether the product sells, do not spend ₹4 lakh on a build. Buy a ₹28,000 theme, pay a competent freelancer ₹40,000–₹70,000 to set it up properly with Razorpay, Shiprocket and GST invoicing, and put the rest into Meta and Google. Come back in eighteen months when the traffic justifies a custom PDP. We have told people this on discovery calls and lost the project. It was still the right advice.

The cheap route stops working when you are spending more than ₹5 lakh a month on ads, when your catalogue crosses a few hundred SKUs and on-site search starts costing you sales, or when a launch-day outage costs more than the developer you did not hire.

Shopify redesign cost in India, and why we argue against half of them

A full redesign on an existing store runs ₹1.5 lakh to ₹4.5 lakh, less than a fresh build because the data, apps and integrations survive. But most redesign requests we get are really conversion problems dressed up as aesthetic ones. Before signing off on one, check the mobile LCP, the number of fields at checkout, whether your collection filters work on a 3G connection, and whether the PDP answers the delivery-date question above the fold. Fixing those five things costs ₹80,000 to ₹1.5 lakh and usually moves revenue more than a new colour palette will. If the theme is five years old, unsupported and built on a discontinued framework, redesign. Otherwise, fix.

Questions we get on the first call

What does a Shopify website cost in Delhi for a first-time brand?

₹90,000 to ₹1.75 lakh for a well-configured template store with payments, shipping and GST invoicing working. Two to three weeks.

Is Noida cheaper than Gurgaon for Shopify development?

Marginally, at the freelancer end. At agency level the difference is team composition, not the address. Compare quotes on hours and roles, not on totals.

What will Shopify website pricing look like in India through 2026?

Build costs have been flat to slightly up as senior Liquid and Hydrogen talent gets scarcer. What has genuinely risen is the app subscription line, because more brands now run five or six paid apps instead of two. Assume your monthly running cost grows faster than your build cost.

How long does a standard store setup take?

Three to five weeks for a ₹2.5–4 lakh scope, assuming product photography and copy are ready. They almost never are. Content is the most common reason NCR projects slip, and it is not something an agency can fix for you at the last minute.

What does an agency retainer in Delhi NCR run to?

₹25,000–₹75,000 a month for ongoing work, higher during the festive quarter when everyone wants landing pages at 48 hours' notice. Lock your festive scope in August.

If you have two quotes in hand that are far apart, send us both with the brief. We will tell you which one has the hours in the right places, even when neither of them is ours. Or start with a free store audit and we will give you a scoped number instead of a range. More on how we work with brands across the capital on our Delhi Shopify agency page.
